The College Bowl began in 1953 as a radio program under sponsorship of the General Electric Company, and in 1959 it became a television program. Questions were asked to two collegiate undergraduate teams, and the team with the fastest response and highest number of correct answers won the match and returned the following week. Winning schools received a General Electric scholarship grant.
The University of Nevada received an invitation to participate and appeared on the show May 19, 1963. Students selected to compete were David Cooper, Carl Dale Donothan, Judy Garwood, Steve Miller, and alternate, Lynn Gerow. Team coach was Dr. Harold L. Kirkpatrick. Nevada competed against Yeshiva University, and lost 285-195.
This collection includes general correspondence concerning the preparation for the show and photographs of the contestants. In addition, there are samples of questions, news releases, student questionnaires, and the College Bowl Teams and Statistics, 1963/64-1964/65.
