Scope and Content

Alfred Jean Chartz was born 1851 in LaVayadu Febore, Quebec, Canada and became a Nevada journalist, businessman, and lawyer expert in mining and water litigation, he died 1943 in Carson City, Nevada. His sons were John MacGregor Chartz and Carl W. Chartz. This collectio contains business and legal records of Alfred, John and Carl Chartz. The collection also includes legal cases in which Alfred participated, miscellaneous political campaign materials, records of various businesses in which family members were involved, and records of the Knights of Polacre (a Carson City fraternal organization.
