Regulations for the use of private studies and study carrels
Admission to the Faculty/Graduate Study Area is controlled by a key card. If a study or locker is assigned, it will be necessary for the assignee to secure a Wolfcard that provides perimeter security access. The card will be programmed to allow access to the Study Area for the designated period of the assignment.
In addition, a $10.00 deposit will be charged for the individual study or locker key. If the key is not returned to the Knowledge Center Administrative Office at the end of the designated assignment period, or if the key is lost, the deposit will be forfeited. Knowledge Center Administration will not open a study for any person other than the one to whom the key was originally issued.
- All library materials in the studies must be properly checked out at the Library Services or other appropriate service desk. Knowledge Center staff will inspect the studies and lockers periodically and any uncharged or non-circulating materials will be removed and returned to the book stacks. The inhabitant will receive a notice that uncharged material was found in the study. Subsequent violations will result in loss of privileges.
- Unauthorized students and faculty are not allowed in the study area, nor are they allowed to store materials in studies. Studies may not be used as an office or conference room. Studies should used only by the individuals to whom they are assigned.
- Drink and food may be consumed in the study but must be discarded when leaving. Do not store food in studies or lockers. Do not leave food waste in trash cans.
- Smoking and tobacco products are strictly prohibited. Violations will result in the loss of the study assignment.
- The studies are not cleaned on a regular basis. Occupants should leave the trash can outside the study door when it needs to be emptied.
- Electrical items, such as coffee pots, hot plates, and space heaters, are strictly prohibited. If such items are found, they will be immediately removed by Knowledge Center staff and the study assignment will be revoked.
- No Knowledge Center furniture or equipment should be moved from or to a study.
- Do not leave valuables in studies or lockers. The Knowledge Center is not responsible for personal property left in the studies.
- Report any damage to the furniture, repairs or replacements of light bulbs, or other problems to Knowledge Center Administration.
- Studies are not sound proof. Please be considerate of others. Set cell phones to vibrate and limit conversations.
- Assignments are from August 15 to August 14 of the following year. All studies must be renewed at least yearly. Renewal is contingent upon adequate use. Key card records may be used to analyze use of the study area.
- Items left in a study that is not renewed will be removed and stored. Items not picked up after a reasonable period of time, will be discarded.
Faculty/Graduate Study and Locker Application Form
Applications received by June 15 2008 will receive priority consideration for August 2008 study and locker assignments. Applications received after June 15 will be reviewed and assignments made on a space available basis. Assignments will be made on a semester or annual basis, depending on need.
Renewals are not automatic. Once a study or locker has been assigned, it may be renewed one academic year at a time
for up to five years, as long as the assignee continues to be and enrolled Ph.D. or Masters student or active or emeritus
faculty.
